Or is this an organization breakup that will lead to a renewed KD trade request?

Of course, the worst-case possible scenario for the Nets stemming from all this has to be a renewed trade request from Kevin Durant. Quite frankly, at least for now, I’m not sure that’s something we can completely take off the table. Just a few months ago, we all thought that the Nets were done. We thought a complete rebuild was on the table. Then, everything kind of got settled.

Now it isn’t. And perhaps we were a bit foolish to think that everything was all good behind the scenes. Nevertheless, here we are and we’re actually left with more questions this time around compared to last offseason.

Kyrie is likely leaving the Nets; I think that’s pretty sure this time around. Whether that is at the NBA Trade Deadline or via free agency remains to be seen. But you can’t help but wonder if this is the beginning of the end for this core. It is for Kyrie.

While it would be completely surprising for the Nets to trade Durant at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, you can’t count out a potential trade during the offseason. Even though Kyrie is the one that made the trade demand, it’s hard not to think that the bigger questions revolve around Durant.

Durant has two options. He can either continue down this path with the Nets or demand a trade during the offseason. What will he do?
