NBA Draft Rumors: Brandon Miller has leaped Scoot Henderson as No. 2 prospect?
NBA Draft Rumors: Brandon Miller has leaped Scoot Henderson as the unanimous No. 2 in the 2023 NBA Draft class according to recent reports.
The 2023 NBA Draft is going to be headlined by Victor Wembanyama. Many believe that he has the chance to be a generational talent as he makes the move to the NBA and he could end up being one of the best overall prospects in draft history depending on how he measures pre-draft.
But the real draft begins after the No. 1 pick. And for the past few months, the expectation was that Scoot Henderson was going to be the clear-cut No. 2 pick. However, it doesn’t appear as if that is the case anymore. Brandon Miller, the standout freshman out of Alabama, appears to have played his way into possibly being the second-best prospect in this draft class.
According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, NBA scouts believe that Miller is very much in the mix to be selected No. 2 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft and that teams have been bullish on Scoot Henderson’s inconsistency with G League Ignite.
Additionally, The Athletic’s John Hollinger adds that the gap between the two has begun to close and that the “door is open” for Miller to overtake Henderson as the No. 2 overall prospect as the draft quickly approaches.
Brandon Miller could continue to rise with a strong showing in the 2023 NCAA Tournament
Miller has been excellent during his freshman season at Alabama and has drawn some big-time comparisons over the past few months. He’s a 6-foot-9 playmaking wing that has the chance to be a superstar at the next level. And he’s proven as much during his time at Alabama.
And over the course of the next few weeks, Miller will be able to hammer home his bid to be the second-best prospect in this draft. As he enters the NCAA Tournament with the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, Miller will have the national spotlight to really prove his worth as a prospect.
If Alabama makes a deep run or even wins it all, and if Miller is a big part of their success, it would be surprising if he didn’t emerge as the consensus No. 2 overall prospect heading into the pre-draft process.
At least from a strictly basketball standpoint, Miller appears to be the real deal. He could be the next great wing to take the league by storm. And it seems like the NBA and its scouts are beginning to realize that.
