NBA Mock Draft 5.0: Detroit Pistons create young super team; big-name is traded

14. New Orleans Pelicans – Anthony Black, G, Arkansas

The New Orleans Pelicans are another team that seems on the precipice of something special. The big question is whether or not this team is going to be able to remain healthy enough to see it through. What they’re going through with Zion Williamson is quite deflating. But if he can figure out how to remain healthy, the Pelicans could be the next young team to blossom. And by adding another lottery pick, this team should be even better heading into next season.

One potential option with how the draft board has fallen is Anthony Black. He may not be as polished as some of the other guard prospects in this year’s NBA Draft but he does offer a level of playmaking potential that some of the others don’t at this point in their development.

Plus, he’s a positive player on the defensive end and could help on that front immediately. Especially for a team that doesn’t have as many difference-making defenders in the backcourt.

The Pelicans are close to playing a factor in the Western Conference. The question is, how soon will it all come together for this team?
