OG Anunoby – trade target

There was a point ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline when it seemed that OG Anunoby was going to be moved. In the end, the Toronto Raptors opted against trading Anunoby but I’d have to believe it’s something that the front office will have a discussion about heading into the offseason. Especially if the Raptors have another uninspiring end to their season.

Anunoby may not fit on the Raptors any longer, especially if they’re looking to jumpstart a retooling of sorts around Scottie Barnes. However, even though he may not be viewed as part of the long-term plans of the Raptors, that doesn’t mean he can’t be a long-term piece for another team.

Anunoby’s talent can’t be argued. In fact, I’d argue that he’s one of the most underrated two-way players in the league. He’d be a great addition on both ends of the floor for the Heat. Perhaps the biggest value in Anunoby is the fact that he’d take a significant amount of pressure off of Jimmy Butler.

Does the Heat have enough assets to pull off a trade for Anunoby? Who knows but if he is shopped this offseason, they should absolutely be interested.
