4. Utah Jazz – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite
Even though the Utah Jazz has Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson on the roster, I would be surprised if they didn’t address the backcourt at some point in the 2023 NBA Draft. And with the way the board has fallen, the Jazz should probably roll the dice on the extremely talented Amen Thompson. He’s far from a finished product but you can make the argument that if he does reach his ceiling, he could end up being the second-best player to come out of this draft class.
Thompson’s weaknesses have been chronicled thoroughly – he struggles with the jumper. On the other hand, he’s a superb athlete, one of the best in this draft class, and has shown the ability to be a great playmaker at the point guard position. He’s also 6-foot-7 and that would provide another level of versatility, especially on the defensive end of the floor.
As the Jazz looks for a new face of the franchise, there’s a good chance that Thompson could be that player. He has star potential written all over him and could even sneak into the top 3 if he measures out better than expected during the pre-draft process.
