Chris Paul will somewhat surprisingly announce his retirement during the championship celebration
The Phoenix Suns will win the 2023 NBA Championship but that won’t be the last big move of the season. In a somewhat surprising move, Chris Paul will announce his retirement from the league shortly after the Suns win the championship, perhaps even during the championship celebration. Paul has been searching for that elusive championship and once he finally gets it, I predict that he’ll be ready to hang up his sneakers.
Could he hang around for another season or two and play out his current contract with the Suns, sure. But I don’t believe Paul NEEDS to do that. He’s made enough money throughout his career that he’s probably straight. This is probably the boldest of predictions but at the same time, if it does transpire, I don’t believe that we should be all that surprised.
Paul will be 38 years old by the time the NBA Finals come around and if he does win an NBA title this season, he would have accomplished all he needs to in the NBA. It would be a great ending to such a great career.
With the NBA Playoffs here, it will be interesting to see how it all transpires. And perhaps even look back to see how many of these predictions actually end up coming to fruition.
