2. San Antonio Spurs – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite

If the San Antonio Spurs landed the second pick in the NBA Draft, it would be somewhat disappointing. It wouldn’t be a waste of a season but there’s a big difference between the No. 1 and No.2 pick. Every team wants the No. 1 overall pick. Every team wants Victor Wembanyama. However, if the Spursh ae to select second, could they go rogue and take a shot on Amen Thompson over a chalk selection?

The Spurs could be the perfect situation for Thompson. San Antonio has proven to be one of the best developmental organizations in the league and there’s a belief that if Thompson does find the right situation he could truly blossom as a prospect. Thompson has great natural ability and great size for where the NBA is trending when it comes to the guard position.

Are there areas of Thompson’s game that need attention? Absolutely. If he can’t develop a consistent jump shot, it’s hard to see how he can be truly effective in how the NBA has evolved over the last few seasons. But if he does manage to develop a consistent jumper, there’s a chance that Thompson could end up being one of the best players to come out of this NBA Draft class.
