Jerami Grant, Portland Trail Blazers
Under the assumption that the Dallas Mavericks plan on moving on from Christian Wood this offseason, this is a team that needs to target two-way players in the frontcourt. And with the uncertainty that revolves around the Portland Trail Blazers and how they’ll end up approaching the offseason, one player that could make sense for the Mavs to target via a sign-and-trade deal is Jerami Grant. The big question is whether the Mavs have anything of substance that the Blazers would be interested in.
At least for now, it seems that the only way Grant leaves Portland is if they pivot toward a rebuild. That’s something to monitor as Grant would seem like a great theoretical fit next to Kyrie and Luka Doncic. Grant is one of the most underrated two-way players in the league and would give the Mavs flexibility in the frontcourt.
Grant is coming off a season in which he averaged 21 points and five rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’d be an absolute difference-maker if the Mavs could find a way to get their hands on him this offseason.
