3. Washington Wizards – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite

Moving into the top 3 of this specific NBA Mock Draft, the Washington Wizards can’t afford to waste this pick. This is a franchise that has not had the best of luck when it has come to its recent NBA Draft history. With a top 3 pick, the Wizards can’t make a mistake here. In hopes of potentially landing their next face of the franchise, depending on how they intend to tackle the Bradley Beal situation, the Wizards could roll the dice on a high-ceiling player such as Amen Thompson.

Just looking at Thompson, it’s easy to fall in love with his measurables. Amen is 6-foot-7 with great length. He’s one of the most athletic and explosive players when he’s on the floor and has the tools to be an excellent (and versatile) defender right away in the NBA. Though, there’s one big question mark in his game: his inconsistent shooting. And it’s the biggest reason why he’s likely going to be taken 3 or 4 in this year’s NBA Draft.

If he can develop as a consistent jump shooter, there’s a chance that Thompson ends up becoming one of the best players in the league. He has that much potential as a prospect.
