8. Indiana Pacers – Cason Wallace, G, Kentucky

There are several different ways the Indiana Pacers could choose to tackle the 2023 NBA Draft, but I’d have to imagine that this team will be looking for a long-term guard that can play next to Tyrese Haliburton. And one that could perhaps fill the void that Buddy Hield could leave in the event that they elect to trade him during the offseason. One prospect that would theoretically make sense for the Pacers at No. 8 is Cason Wallace, a rising guard prospect out of Kentucky.

Wallace had quite a memorable freshman season at Kentucky and has intriguing potential as he makes the move to the NBA as somewhat of a combo guard. He might be the best defender in the backcourt in this year’s draft class and showed the ability to hit the 3-point shot on a consistent basis as well.

He may not be as explosive or as athletic as some of the other prospects in this year’s draft class but he’s a player that could blossom as a playmaker. If he continues to measure out well, there’s no question that he’s going to be viewed as a worthy top-10 draft pick. And the Pacers could be a nice landing spot for him.
