7. Terquavion Smith, NC State

Heading into the 2023 NBA Draft, at least in my opinion, one of the bigger question marks at the point guard position will come with Terquavion Smith as a prospect. On paper, he seems like an ideal prospect to take a flier on. But when you dig into his game, there is a very real concern about whether or not his game will ultimately be able to transition seamlessly to the NBA.

Smith returned to school for his sophomore season at NC State and while his overall production improved, his offensive efficiency didn’t. And I have a feeling that will be a problem heading into the NBA Draft. Smith closed his sophomore season by averaging 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists on 38 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent shooting from 3-point range.

During the pre-draft process, Smith will have to sell teams on his overall offensive explosiveness. He has some proving to do as a defensive player and especially when it comes to efficiency. The potential is there for Smith to be a good NBA player down the line but I have a feeling he may need a few years to develop.
