Cleveland Cavaliers FA target No. 5: Jerami Grant, unrestricted

As somewhat of a pipe dream for the Cavs heading into the offseason, should the Portland Trail Blazers explore a rebuild and a potential Damian Lillard trade, there’s no question that Jerami Grant could emerge as one of the most sought-after free agents on the open market. And if it gets to that point during the offseason, the Cavs should absolutely try to get in on that sweepstakes.

With how this team is built, Grant would be an excellent addition to this team. The Cavs would probably have to trade one of their bigs – possibly Jarrett Allen – to make it happen, but I would consider it if the team believes he’s a better fit for this core. The entire build completely changed when the Cavs acquired Donovan Mitchell. And they should be open to retooling this offseason.

It’s clear that heading into the offseason that the Cleveland Cavaliers need to add to this roster. The question is, will they make the right additions that would help catapult this team to championship contender status in the Eastern Conference next season? Either way, I think it’s safe to say that this will be a somewhat active offseason for the Cavs.
