15. Atlanta Hawks – Rayan Rupert, G, France
As one of the bigger mysteries of the NBA Draft, Rayan Rupert is an interesting overseas prospect that could develop into a difference-maker down the road. He has already shown a willingness to be a defense-first player and has the foundation to be a good shooter. What Rupert needs most is time.
He’ll need some time to hone his skills and develop. I don’t think the Hawks should expect Rupert to contribute right away but could be a safety option down the line if it doesn’t work out in the backcourt with Trae Young and/or Dejounte Murray.
16. Utah Jazz (via Minnesota Timberwolves) – Jordan Hawkins, G, UCONN
A team can never have too many shooters. And with the Utah Jazz still settling into what they believe to be a core foundation, it wouldn’t be surprising for the team to explore a prospect such as Jordan Hawkins, who has risen up NBA Draft boards after an excellent showing in the NCAA Tournament.
Hawkins may never be a “star” player in the NBA but he’s one of those potentially valuable pieces that every championship core needs. And with as many talented players as Utah already has on its roster, adding a prospect such as Hawkins will only put this franchise in a better place heading into the future.
