The dark horse: Cam Whitmore, F, Villanova

If there’s an NBA Draft prospect outside the big three that has a good chance to emerge as the steal of this year’s class, it has to be Cam Whitmore. He’s a player that is likely going to be a top-10 pick but also one that has all the skills to be a star. He may not have shown much of that so far, but he’s extremely young and he’ll have every opportunity to improve on every level at the next level.

Whitmore is 6-foot-7, one of the most athletic slashers in this year’s draft class, and has shown the ability to be a premier offensive player. With his size and athleticism, he should be able to translate well on the defensive end. The biggest question mark revolving around Whitmore may be about whether or not he can continue to develop his jump shot.

At least on the surface, there’s a lot to like about Whitmore as a long-term prospect. At least for me, he’s a dark horse talent that absolutely has superstar potential. Like many prospects on this list, where he lands could end up determining whether he reaches his long-term potential or not.
