8. Washington Wizards – Anthony Black, G, Arkansas

The Washington Wizards are a team that really could’ve used the luck of the draw but instead, will still heading into the offseason with a golden opportunity with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Assuming that the team is going to move forward with their plan of re-signing Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis, I would expect the Wizards to make a move for a high-ceiling player in the backcourt. One that could perhaps grow and develop next to Bradley Beal.

One prospect that makes sense at No. 8 is Anthony Black. With Nick Smith Jr. struggling throughout his freshman season, it was Black that helped carry Arkansas throughout the season. Black is a pass-first guard that has the size to emerge as a versatile defender down the road for the Wizards.

The big questions that surround Black as he makes the jump to the NBA involve his shooting. If he can develop a consistent jump shot, there’s a chance that Black could be a real game-changer for the Wizards. Especially if Beal sticks around. Black could be the primary playmaker that this team has been looking for.
