Minnesota Timberwolves
Trade assets: 1. Anthony Edwards 2. Karl-Anthony Towns 3. Rudy Gobert
All in all, it was a disappointing season for the Minnesota Timberwolves. I don’t think many people would argue with that assessment. Heading into the offseason, the front office and its decision-makers will have to figure out what is in the best interest of the team moving forward. But thanks to the Rudy Gobert acquisition, who remains the team’s third-best trade asset at the moment, the Wolves don’t have much wiggle room to improve the roster.
As part of the Gobert deal, the Wolves moved nearly every trade-eligible first-round pick that they had. Now, if they want to make a big move, they’ll likely have to part ways with one of their premier trade assets. And that could leave one possible trade candidate – and it’s not Anthony Edwards, who is probably the only untouchable player on the roster.
That leaves Karl-Anthony Towns – under the assumption that the market for Gobert would be lacking at the moment – as the only truly viable high-return trade asset that the Wolves have on their roster right now.
The question is, will they pull the trigger?
