Trade assets: 1. Cade Cunningham 2. Jaden Ivey 3. 2023 NBA Draft pick (5th overall)

The Detroit Pistons were one team that many, including myself, expected to take a positive step forward this past season. Instead, the Pistons finished with the worst record in the league, winning only 17 games. In fairness, their team’s best player, Cade Cunningham, only played in 12 games last season. Heading into next season, the hope is that the Pistons can remain healthy and take that next step.

Cunningham is clearly the team’s best trade asset at the moment. He’s their best player and has the highest ceiling. This upcoming season will prove to be huge in the grand scheme of his development. The fifth overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft, Jaden Ivey is likely the team’s second-best trade asset. He is also a huge key to the Pistons’ turning the corner on their rebuild.

Despite finishing with the worst record in the league, the Pistons fell down four spots in the NBA Draft Lottery and will now pick fifth in the 2023 NBA Draft. That’s still likely a huge trade asset on the open market should the Pistons want to move it.
