4. Houston Rockets – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite

In a perfect world, Scoot Henderson would fall to the Houston Rockets at No. 4 and that very well may end up happening with the uncertainty that revolves around the Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers decisions, but assuming the first three picks remain chalk, the Rockets will likely find themselves in a position to take Amen Thompson. And a playmaking big guard with supreme athleticism is exactly what the Rockets need.

Thompson could end up being a great piece next to Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun – and potentially James Harden. Even though Thompson is one of the most talented prospects in this year’s draft class, he’ll certainly need time to grow. But he’s one of the most talented guards in this year’s class.

I wouldn’t entirely rule out the Rockets trading up or down in this year’s draft. They could end up making a move for Scoot or perhaps could even move down for another player while adding an additional asset for down the line.

With the way the board has fallen in this particular NBA Mock Draft, Thompson seems to make the most sense for Houston at No. 4.
