Who are we kidding here; the Los Angeles Lakers have to be considered the favorites to land Chris Paul this offseason. Even without knowing anything other than the report that he’s going to be waived, this has to be the plan all along. LeBron James and Paul have never played on the same team and it seems as if this is finally going to come to fruition this offseason.
The Lakers will give Paul a great chance to win a title and there’s a scenario this offseason in which the Lakers will need a point guard. The move for Paul would also allow the Lakers to explore other options this offseason. With a backup plan at the point guard position, perhaps the Lakers would now be open to a bigger move.
It’s an interesting idea. And one that will likely be at the top of the list of expectations this offseason for Paul.

We still have to see this all play out but at this point, it would be somewhat surprising if Chris Paul didn’t find himself in a Lakers uniform one way or another by the start of next season.
