NBA Draft Rumor: Portland Trail Blazers will trade the No. 3 pick
It’s the worst-kept secret heading into the NBA Draft world that the Portland Trail Blazers are open to the idea of trading the No. 3 overall pick. However, for what they’re asking for, that is going to be easier said than done. The Blazers are in an interesting spot. They are either going to trade this pick to try to build around Damian Lillard or they’re going to make this selection, opening the door to a likely Lillard trade this offseason.
I simply don’t believe the Blazers can throw away this golden opportunity that they were given by the basketball gods. And even less so if Scoot Henderson does end up falling to No. 3. If the Blazers wanted, they could have a rebuilding foundation of Scoot, Shaedon Sharpe, Anfernee Simons, and whatever the package for Lillard brings. The Blazers have a really big decision to make.
I suppose if the right deal does come around, the Blazers should pull the trigger. What would that right deal look like? Well, you’d have to start with the Jaylen Brown’s, Mikal Bridges’, or OG Anunoby’s of the world. If that’s not offered, the Blazers can’t move this pick. In the end, I don’t think they will.
Verdict: Sell
