NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks would be open to trading Dejounte Murray this offseason.

After the changes that the Atlanta Hawks underwent in the front office, it’s expected that the team will make some changes during the offseason. The Hawks are not coming off a disastrous season but after making the big move for Dejounte Murray last offseason, the expectation was that the team would be better than the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

Because of that, the Hawks are not a team that can be completely opposed to changes to the roster moving forward. How risky are the Hawks open to being this summer, however?

According to a recent report from Bleacher Report, the Hawks could end up trading Murray this offseason if the right deal comes around. This may seem shocking, but I don’t think it is. When you look at the landscape of where the Hawks are right now heading into the offseason, and considering there were even trade whispers regarding Trae Young, it’s almost impossible to say that there’s anyone on the roster off-limits.

However, I also don’t think the Hawks are going to enter the offseason with the goal of trading Murray. Even though he didn’t have the impact that Atlanta thought he would during his first season with the team, it’s tough to say that he was a disappointment individually.

Murray is coming off a season in which he averaged 21 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game on 46 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent shooting from 3-point range. He may not be a great fit next to Young but it would be outrageous to say that he wasn’t good for the Hawks this season.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what the Hawks end up doing this offseason. They’re going to approach the offseason with hopes of making changes to the roster (likely with the hope of moving John Collins at the top of their list), but I can’t imagine trading Murray or Young being the focal point of the team’s to-do list.

Heading into the offseason, there will be a handful of teams looking to shake up their roster. You can probably throw the Hawks into that mix. The question is, how much of a shake-up will the Hawks end up making?
