NBA Trade Rumors: 6 Shot-in-the-dark moves Blazers should pursue at NBA Draft
The Blazers help complicate the Hawks’ issues
With all the noise that has surrounded the Atlanta Hawks as of late, you can’t help but wonder if the Portland Trail Blazers could pry Dejounte Murray away from the team in hopes of accomplishing a retooling for both sides. The Blazers could throw a package centered around Anfernee Simons (who could be a better fit with Trae Young), Nassir Little, and two first-round draft picks (2023; 23rd overall, 2026) in exchange for Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
If the Hawks are truly looking to shake up this roster, this is a move that could accomplish that. If the Hawks wanted, they could ask the Blazers for another future pick. That is not certainly off the table. The Blazers would completely retool the supporting cast around Damian Lillard and the Hawks would get a better fit in the backcourt with Simons and two quality draft picks.
Atlanta may be a bit apprehensive to move Murray, especially after just one season. But I wouldn’t completely count the possibility out. Still, at the very least, this is a phone call that the Blazers should be willing to make.
