The Dallas Mavericks will trade for Clint Capela
The Dallas Mavericks are operating under immense pressure this offseason. Not only do they have to figure out how to re-sign Kyrie Irving but they also must build out a much stronger supporting cast around Luka Doncic. With the way their roster is constructed at the moment, the most feasible way for the Mavs to upgrade its supporting cast seems to trade the No. 10 overall pick.
I predict that the Mavs will pull the trigger on a deal that’s been floating around out there – the rumored deal would have Dallas sending the No. 10 pick and Davis Bertans to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the No. 15 pick and Clint Capela. The Hawks reportedly would rather move John Collins than Capela, but when push comes to shove, I believe this is something that Atlanta will end up taking.
The Hawks would move up in the draft to potentially take a young big and the Mavs would get their defensive anchor and a center that could feed off of Luka and Kyrie on the offensive end of the floor. It’s a deal that makes a lot of sense for both sides considering where they find themselves heading into the summer.
