19. Dillon Brooks (unrestricted)

Dillon Brooks is not hitting free agency at a great time. He’s coming off one of the worse statistical seasons of his career thus far and a horrible showing in the playoffs, on the league’s biggest stage. That, likely among other factors, all led to the Memphis Grizzlies telling Brooks they don’t plan on bringing him back. That said, there are still teams expected to be interested in signing him.

One of those teams will likely be the Houston Rockets, who will be in the market for veteran contributors this offseason.

Even though I believe he will ultimately sign with the Rockets in an attempt to rebuild his reputation around the league, I think there is one dark horse team that we should keep an eye on when it comes to Brooks’ potential landing spots. The Miami Heat. Brooks has all the tools that the Heat looks for in a player and could be an interesting reclamation project for the franchise.

Miami doesn’t have a ton of flexibility to work with but perhaps a sign and trade to send Kyle Lowry (another veteran guard) to Memphis could work?

Prediction: Houston Rockets
