The New York Knicks will be relatively quiet, making small moves
With as many tradable assets as they have on their roster, with some financial flexibility considering their tradable contracts, there’s an expectation that the New York Knicks will be looking to make a big move as free agency begins. However, I predict that the Knicks will be patient. And they won’t make a “big” move just to make a move. This front office has operated differently than previous leadership groups. They’re not going to be impatient despite what their fans want.
So, no, I don’t see the Knicks making a big move early on in free agency. I predict that the Knicks will be relatively quiet and will only make small moves. Maybe they try to move on from Evan Fournier and/or Obi Toppin, but I don’t see this team making a move for Damian Lillard, Zach LaVine, or even Karl-Anthony Towns (if he is available). The Knicks have the assets to make a move for a star. But it would make zero sense for this team to rush into something.
The Knicks do need to make some additions to their roster if they want to take a step forward in the Eastern Conference. However, the No. 1 priority for the Knicks this offseason needs to be “no dumb decisions.”
