Kyrie Irving, Dallas Mavericks will find equal footing

Heading into the offseason, the Dallas Mavericks will be operating with plenty of pressure. After not securing a deal for a veteran difference-maker at the NBA Draft, despite trying to pry Deandre Ayton out of Phoenix (subscription required), the Mavs almost have to re-sign Kyrie Irving in free agency. And while the expectation is that they will, many believe that there’s a chance that Kyrie could end up hijacking the process and make it much more difficult than it needs to be.

I predict that won’t be the case. I predict that the Mavs and Kyrie will find equal footing and there won’t be much of a struggle to come to a contract agreement. Even though the duo of Kyrie and Luka Doncic left a bit to be desired in their limited sample size together after the NBA Trade Deadline, I don’t think we’ve seen the best of the duo with the Mavs just yet.

Kyrie won’t entertain any other offers. He’ll be back with the Mavs as they look to right the wrong from the latter portion of last season. I’m not sure if it will end up working but I’d be shocked if they didn’t get another shot.
