Coby White, Chicago Bulls

The contract: 3 years, $33 million

As a player that has frequently found himself amid the NBA trade rumor mill, I was a bit shocked that the Chicago Bulls decided to re-sign Coby White without letting him set his own market in restricted free agency. Nevertheless, the Bulls getting White to return on a manageable three-year, $33 million deal is amazing value for a young player that probably hasn’t even hit his ceiling yet as a player in the NBA.

White has “regressed” in each of his last two seasons with the Bulls. He’s coming off the “least-productive” season of his career thus far, averaging just 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 37 percent shooting from 3-point range. All that said, he’s still just 23 years old and has proven that he has the talent and skill set to be a productive player in the league.

And with the questions that continue to surround Lonzo Ball, who is expected to miss another season, the Bulls were kind of backed into a corner with this move. I don’t love the move considering every NBA Trade Deadline it seems like the Bulls are trying to trade White, but it’s also 100 percent understandable considering the circumstances.
