NBA Rumors: 8 Best Free Agents still available after first wave of Free Agency
6. Malik Beasley, unrestricted
Sitting in a similar boat to Lonnie Walker, there’s very much that needs to be settled when it comes to Malik Beasley’s status with the Los Angeles Lakers. As Los Angeles continues to add talent on the wing, there’s no guarantee that Beasley will be back with the Lakers next season. At the same rate, there’s also no guarantee that he won’t. Like their approach with Walker, there’s an expectation that Los Angeles will wait around to see what type of market develops for Beasley before making a decision one way or another.
Beasley had an inconsistent stint with the Lakers. He’s coming off a 27-game stretch in which he averaged 11 points on 35 percent shooting from 3-point range with the Lakers. That said, he’s still just 26 years old and could be viewed as a valuable 3-point shooter. He fell out of the Lakers’ rotation by the end of the year and with the moves that the Lakers have made thus far in free agency, there’s doubt he could be re-signed.
If it comes at a cheap price, I wouldn’t entirely rule out a reunion.
