Does the Miami Heat have two quality players?
The only reason why it could be difficult to answer this question is because we don’t know what exactly Portland means by “two quality players.” Does that mean two good young players? Does that mean two good players, regardless of experience? Does this mean two good players that are on the path to becoming future All-Stars?
Without knowing that, it’s hard to answer this question definitively. However, we’ll answer this question the best we can.
In a vacuum, the Heat does have a few players that they could offer the Blazers that would be quantified as “quality” players. A few potential candidates that could be used in a trade as “quality players” are Caleb Martin, Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, Haywood Highsmith, Duncan Robinson, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. – these are all players, perhaps with the exception of Highsmith that could be flipped for an additional pick or two at the NBA Trade Deadline. Some of the young options could be retained and grow alongside Portland’s young core.
Where it could become difficult and complicated for the Heat is if the Blazers want other options when it comes to “quality players.” But even then, that’s where potential third or fourth teams come into the picture.
And with the reports indicating that there are teams that are willing to give up assets for Tyler Herro, that could open the door for other “quality players” that could be available for the Blazers.
