5. Mavs add Grant Williams; drafting Dereck Lively II

Heading into the offseason, it was clear that the Dallas Mavericks needed to solidify their roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. With many questions surrounding this team, Dallas did a great job of doing just that. In the NBA Draft, the Mavs added red-hot prospect Dereck Lively II, who will automatically improve this team’s rim protection and offers a bit of upside on the offensive end as a big that can stretch the defense.

Dallas proceeded into free agency by re-signing Kyrie, which was essential, and then adding Grant Williams. In a limited role with the Boston Celtics this past season, Williams flashed as a player that could potentially add more if given the opportunity to. He’s an ideal 3-and-D wing whose toughness and energy are something that every contender in the league could feed off of.

The Mavs may not be done making moves this offseason but they are in a good spot heading into this upcoming season thanks in large part due to their selection in the NBA Draft and their big outside signing of Williams.

The Mavs, without a doubt, got better this offseason.
