NBA Trade Rumors: There’s a belief around the league that the Dallas Mavericks could circle back to pursue Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons.

About a month ago, before the NBA offseason officially began, the Dallas Mavericks were linked to several potential trade targets. With a clear need to upgrade the roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, it was only natural for the Mavs to emerge as a team that needed to make somewhat of a significant move during the offseason.

One of those original trade targets was Bojan Bogdanovic. Nothing ever materialized between the Mavs and the Detroit Pistons but there’s new hope that perhaps the Mavs could circle back to their prior interest in Bogdanovic.

The Dallas Mavericks have worked hard to retool their supporting cast

Through the NBA Draft and free agency, which is all but over, the Mavs worked hard in giving their supporting cast an exciting new look.

Dallas drafted Dereck Lively II, re-signed Kyrie Irving, acquired Grant Wiliams (via sign and trade from the Boston Celtics), signed Seth Curry in free agency, and took a flier on Dante Exum who is looking to make an NBA comeback.

And the Mavs may still not be done.

If they could make one last move for a player as dynamic as Bogdanovic, at least on the offensive end of the floor, this is a team that could emerge as a dangerous threat in the Western Conference. And that’s what the Mavs needed to accomplish most this offseason.

It was always going to be difficult for the Mavs to make a huge move in free agency or at the NBA Draft. They entered the offseason without much financial flexibility and without a ton of tradeable assets to operate with.

They still did pretty well. Their roster is better than it was last season and a move for Bogdanovic could really take it another step further.

Dallas could theoretically staple a future first-round pick to Tim Hardaway Jr.’s contract to make a deal work for both sides. If the Pistons are open to trading Bogdanovic before the start of the NBA season, the Mavs should absolutely be one of the teams interested.

Ultimately, the feasibility of a potential move by the Mavs likely falls in the hands of the Pistons. Since acquiring Bogdanovic from the Utah Jazz, the Pistons have been reluctant to part was with him.

If the Mavs can polish off their summer with a Bogdanovic addition, it would represent a pretty flawless offseason for the team.
