Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers, considering their circumstances, have done well this offseason. They successfully retooled their supporting cast around LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves (wow, that’s weird to say). Nevertheless, they’re still open to making another tweak or two either in free agency or via trade before the start of the season. According to a recent report, the Lakers are looking for a “stretch-5,” but perhaps they would find more value in investing in a young forward such as PJ Washington.
He is a bit of an undersized power forward but could theoretically work next to Anthony Davis and LeBron James in the frontcourt. The big question is whether they believe he could be a consistent enough an offensive player where it would make enough sense to invest in a multi-year contract on.
Then, there are questions as to whether they could compile a salary-matching deal that would also make sense for the Hornets.
If the Lakers are at least open to the idea, Washington would make a lot of sense for a team that wants to add depth in the frontcourt.
