Orlando Robinson, Miami Heat
Is it that surprising that the best developmental system in the NBA is about to produce another undrafted gem? Well, it shouldn’t be. As all the attention of the Miami Heat’s summer league team revolved around Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic, the 23-year-old 6-foot-10 Orlando Robinson was consistently playing like the best big man in the summer league.
Earning First-Team All-Summer League honors, Robinson finished a dominating summer league stint by averaging 26 points, nine rebounds, and four assists per game on 58 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent shooting from 3-point range. If the Heat does end up gutting their depth for Damian Lillard, which at this point seems like the expectation, Robinson could emerge as a potential rotation player for the team.
I don’t think anyone expects Robinson to be a key contributor for the Heat this season, but there’s no question that he took a big step forward toward possibly becoming that during his performance in NBA Summer League.
