20. Toronto Raptors

Key offseason move: Re-signed Jakob Poeltl, signed Dennis Schroder and Jalen McDaniels

The Toronto Raptors were a team that many expected to be quite active once the offseason arrived. They didn’t exactly do that. They re-signed Jakob Poeltl and inked a couple of other smaller-level free agents, but the Raptors didn’t – or haven’t – traded OG Anunoby or Pascal Siakam. They lost Fred VanVleet in free agency to the Houston Rockets, so there is some change that the Raptors will have to normalize heading into next season.

But overall, the Raptors didn’t make many big moves. That doesn’t mean it still won’t happen. In fact, there have continued to be trade murmurs surrounding Siakam. He’s an expiring contract after this season and there’s no guarantee that the Raptors will re-sign him next summer. Anunoby wants a larger offensive role and there’s no guarantee Toronto can give him that.

At least for now, though, it doesn’t appear that Anunoby or Siakam will be traded before the start of the season. That can change at any moment but for the most part, the expectation is that the Raptors are going to “run it back” with a few changes to their roster. Full disclosure, this may not be a playoff team next season.
