Creating the perfect NBA Christmas Day slate for 2023.

There’s an expectation that the NBA will officially release its complete 2023-24 regular season schedule at some point within the next two weeks. However, it’s only a matter of time before the leaks begin to come. One of the biggest and most intriguing days that many quickly look toward when the schedule is released is Christmas Day.

It’s arguably the biggest national regular season day, apart from opening night, and draws many eyes to the league. In many ways, the NBA almost has to get that day perfect from a scheduling point of view.

In an attempt to beat the NBA, we craft (and predict) the perfect Christmas Day slate for 2023.

Predicting the NBA Christmas Day schedule

Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks – 12:00 p.m. ET

Especially after the playoff run they had last season, it would be a huge surprise if the New York Knicks weren’t awarded a spot on Christmas Day. And generally, they’re the team that opens up the day’s festivities. One of the most intriguing of possible matchups includes a date with the potential East-favorite Boston Celtics. The Knicks hosting the Celtics to open the Christmas Day slate would be quite the contest.

Not only would this be a good measuring stick game for the Knicks, but there is also an intriguing storyline that includes the return of Kristaps Porzingis. Drafted by the Knicks, Porzingis was traded to Dallas after just three seasons. Three teams later, Porzingis will have the chance to remind New York just what they may be missing. New York’s young core could also continue to prove that they’ve also made some strides as well.

Not to mention Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The stars will be out in New York to open the Christmas Day slate if this matchup comes to fruition.
