Trade deadline candidate: Pascal Siakam

Whether they wanted it or not, change finally arrived for the Toronto Raptors. Fred VanVleet left in free agency and now there’s a very real chance that Pascal Siakam could be next. He enters the season with one year remaining on his contract but has been at the center of trade whispers for what feels like the last two months. The asking price is high but it’s starting to feel as if Siakam being traded at some point over the next few months is a foregone conclusion.

You’d have to think that if the Raptors did want to keep Siakam around, they already would’ve agreed to a contract extension for him. They haven’t and are still taking calls on him. That leads me to believe that the Raptors are ready to make a youth movement. The only move that remains for them to fully embrace their young core is trading Siakam.

If he isn’t moved by the start of the season, it’s likely that he’ll be at the center of all the action heading into the NBA Trade Deadline.
