Sacramento Kings

Coming off a season in which they finished as a top 3 seed in the Western Conference regular season standings, the Sacramento Kings, at least on paper, are heading into the 2023-24 season as one of the favorites to possibly break through. There are certainly steps to be taken but it would be somewhat surprising if the Kings weren’t a threat in the West this season. They deserved at least a conversation to be included in the Christmas Day festivities.

Here’s the thing about the Kings that many seem to forget – they were actually one of the most entertaining teams to watch last season. They were fueled by their high-octane offense and the rising stardom of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. I’m not sure who I would’ve replaced the Kings with on the Christmas Day slate, but it would’ve been nice to see some fresh faces get a shot on one of the NBA’s biggest days of the season.

And it’s something the NBA has done before. In recent years, we’ve seen the likes of the Grizzlies, Jazz, and Pelicans all get Christmas Day games. It’s a shame the NBA didn’t get a shot to include the Kings as an up-and-coming team in the league this season.
