Memphis Grizzlies

Biggest offseason moves: Acquired Marcus Smart, acquired Josh Christopher, signing Derrick Rose

With a disappointing showing in the first round of the playoffs at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, it was clear that the Memphis Grizzlies needed to make a big veteran addition this offseason. And they accomplished that this summer by acquiring Marcus Smart in a three-team deal from the Boston Celtics. At least on paper, Smart should be a great addition to the Grizzlies and he will help make surviving without Ja Morant for the first 25 games a whole easier.

The Grizzles also acquire Josh Christopher from the Houston Rockets. He should help with depth behind Desmond Bane. In an attempt to also help with their depth at the point guard position, Derrick Rose is another veteran player that was signed by the team this summer.

Heading into the season, if there were any big concerns about the Grizzlies, it’s probably around the fact that they didn’t really address the loss of Dillon Brooks. Maybe they expect John Konchar, David Roddy, and Ziaire Williams to handle that, but I don’t really have much confidence in their wing depth at the moment.
