Biggest offseason moves: Drafted Cason Wallace, acquired TyTy Washington and Usman Garuba

I may be on an island here but I don’t think the Oklahoma City Thunder had a rather noteworthy offseason. For the most part, the Thunder is hoping that their big jump heading into next season comes from internal development. And it’s hard to blame them for that thinking. OKC has one of the most talented young rosters in the league. If this in fact becomes the year where it all comes together for the Thunder, it will largely be because of their young core taking another step forward collectively.

But the Thunder did also make a few additions here and there that, if nothing else, could add another layer of prospects that could help raise this team’s chances of hitting on another difference-making contributor. OKC drafted two-way guard Cason Wallace and then acquired TyTy Washington and Usman Garuba. It’s tough to envision any of those players making any type of impact this season but they’re worthy prospects to take a flier on.

Even though I would’ve liked to see OKC take a shot on a more established player (I don’t see how Victor Oladipo plays at all this season), that doesn’t mean the Thunder won’t be good this season. I imagine that’s somewhat of an expectation at this point.
