NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Reasons it may be time for Sixers to trade Joel Embiid
Tyrese Maxey is talented but may not be a superstar
If or when the Philadelphia 76ers trade James Harden, the team is going to need Tyrese Maxey to step up in a much bigger role if the Sixers are going to play any type of factor in the Eastern Conference this upcoming season. While Maxey is a rising star player, I’m not sure he will ever reach the level of player that Harden was even this past season. And that’s not a knock on Maxey. But if he can’t be what Harden was this past season, I have a hard time believing he’s going to fill the star role that the Sixers are going to need next to Joel Embiid.
The last thing that the Sixers need to do is waste another year of Embiid’s prime, especially not one coming off an MVP-level season. Instead of trying to force Maxey into a role that he may not be comfortable with at this point in his career, they could trade Embiid and begin to build with Maxey.
Heck, if the Sixers wanted to completely rebuild their roster, they could even trade both Maxey and Embiid and get an extremely huge haul.
