NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring five non-Miami Heat blockbuster deals that would effectively end the Damian Lillard saga once and for all.

The Damian Lillard saga is nearly two months in. There hasn’t been much that has changed since it was originally reported that Lillard had demanded a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers (to the Miami Heat). Nevertheless, with a little more than a month away from the start of training camps, this is a storyline that many across the league would like to see come to an end.

But that could be easier said than done, especially if the Blazers continue to refuse to negotiate with the Heat. You’d have to imagine that over the next few weeks, that’s something that could – or should – change. Especially if the non-Heat market for Lillard is currently dry.

If the non-Heat market does pick up for Lillard, there’s hope that the end of this saga could be close.

Using teams that would make sense for Damian Lillard

I think it’s important that we be as realistic as we possibly can. In this exercise of trying to end the Lillard saga, we tried to use teams that at least make some sense for him. I didn’t include the likes of the Oklahoma City or Utah Jazz. In a vacuum, those are two teams that have the assets to get a deal for Lillard done. However, they’re also two teams that probably have no business in trying to trade for Lillard in the grand scheme of things.

That said, there are still a few other teams that “make sense” for Lillard and that can offer a competitive deal compared to the one that is reportedly on the table from the Heat. Let’s explore five non-Heat potential blockbuster deals that would end the Lillard saga.
