Dallas Mavericks
After a disappointing end to last season, the Dallas Mavericks should be doing everything in their power to not let this year be a repeat of last year. Acquiring a player like Buddy Hield to play next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving would go a long way in legitimizing the Mavs’ chances of being a surprise team in the Western Conference this season.
As you would expect, the Mavs are going to need help beyond just Kyrie and Luka. For as talented as both those players are, we learned toward the latter portion of last season that the Mavs are going to need help from its supporting cast if they’re truly going to play a factor in the Western Conference playoffs. While the Mavs did a solid job in improving their roster this offseason, there’s no question that a move for Hield could up the ante for a team like Dallas.
Dallas is in a position where they can’t afford to waste seasons. Any time a difference-maker like Hield comes available, the Mavs should be making calls. Whether they have the assets to pull off a move is an entirely different question. But the Mavs would be an intriguing spot for Hield, even if it is just for one season.
