The Miami Heat offer, considering the circumstances, isn’t bad

Once again, if you remove the feelings and all the outside noise, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that the Miami Heat’s best offer for Damian Lillard is not bad. If Portland is able to get 3-4 future first-round picks and both of the Heat’s young players, that’s an offer that they’ve reportedly been seeking since the beginning of this trade saga.

If that ends up being the deal that the Blazers end up taking, doesn’t that clear their original asking price? I think we’ve all gotten caught up in the narrative of this trade saga that we’ve been blinded by what reality is. And the reality is that the Blazers probably waited a couple of years too long to trade Lillard. And if they can get the best offer Miami has, they should take it and run if there isn’t any better on the table.

Of course, the big question in all this revolves around what the Heat may be offering at the moment and whether the Blazers are able to negotiate their way to get to Miami’s best offer. And that could be playing in Portland’s attempt to find other offers on the open market in an attempt to bring to the bargaining table to the Heat.

Either way, if the Blazers were to “settle” for the Heat’s offer, it would not be that bad considering the circumstances they find themselves under.
