The Blazers, deep down, want to do right by Damian Lillard

All the outside noise aside, I’d have to imagine that deep down, the Portland Trail Blazers would want to do right by Damian Lillard. All summer long, emotions have gotten in the way of that and what’s truly important here. Especially considering that there isn’t a standout offer on the table, the Blazers will eventually let cooler heads prevail and want to end this saga by doing right by the best player to ever play for Portland.

The last thing that Portland should do is accept an offer due to pettiness. If there’s a no-brainer non-Heat offer on the table, I can’t knock the Blazers for accepting it. I’m just not anticipating that being so. And if that is the case, Lillard would already be traded.

Assuming there isn’t a “wow” offer on the table for Lillard, the Blazers will likely attempt to do right by their franchise star and put an end to all the offseason contention that has taken place between all sides involved over the last couple of months.

That goes for the Heat too. If a deal is going to get done in Lillard’s favor, both the Blazers and Heat will need to find a middle ground. I predict that will happen at some point this week.
