Predicting the best and worst-case scenarios for the Milwaukee Bucks after making the big move for Damian Lillard.
The Milwaukee Bucks stole the offseason by acquiring Damian Lillard out from under the eyes of the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat. The Bucks had to part ways with versatile guard Jrue Holiday but it was almost impossible for Milwaukee not to take a chance to acquire one of the most dynamic scorers in the league to help create what could end up being the best duo in the Eastern Conference.
In the end, the Bucks pulled the trigger. Adding Lillard, the Bucks could be viewed as the favorites in the East heading into the start of training camp. Even though the Boston Celtics made the move for Holiday, I’d still prefer the moves Milwaukee made this offseason slightly better.
The Milwaukee Bucks went all-in on Damian Lillard on multiple fronts
After whispers that Giannis Antetokounmpo wanted to see the Bucks make a bold move, Milwaukee decided that the acquisition of Lillard was exactly what would appease their superstar. And at least thus far, that appears to be the case.
I’m not exactly sure if the move for Lillard will get Giannis to sign an extension right now, but it’s certainly a move in the right direction. One thing is clear; the Bucks are all-in on the next 2-3 seasons. After that, it gets a bit more complicated for them to continue to retool the roster around Giannis.
But I suppose that’s another conversation for a later date. For now, we’ll explore the possible best and worst-case scenarios for the Bucks with Lillard this season.
