Trae Young, G, Atlanta Hawks
The media continuously discredits Trae Young’s ability on offense by bringing up his lackluster production on defense. Though he is already at a disadvantage due to his size, we can all agree he needs to improve his effort on the defensive end. However, this should not take away from his impact on offense.
Young was the first player to lead the league in points and assists in the 2022 NBA season and in 2023 was top 10 in points and assists as well. He continues to get disrespected when being compared to his peers but is still one of the best offensive players this league has to offer.
It’s understandable that the Atlanta Hawks as a whole have taken a bit of a step back as a team after making a surprising run to the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2020-21 season. Young has unfairly been blamed for most of that, but that’s not fair.
Young is one of the best offensive players in the league; it’s odd the way the narrative around him has shifted over the last two seasons.
