Breakout candidate: Kenyon Martin Jr.

There’s an argument to be made that the LA Clippers adding Kenyon (or KJ) Martin Jr. via trade could end up being one of the most underrated moves of the offseason. Heading into the final year of his contract, he no longer fit with the Houston Rockets. The Clippers took advantage of that and made a move for the slashing wing. To the benefit of LA, there’s at least an outside chance that Martin ends up having the best season of his career thus far this year.

Having the best season of his career thus far last year, there’s still room for him to take another step forward. One area where he can make the biggest jump heading into this season is at the 3-point line. Martin has regressed in that area in each of the last three seasons and if he’s going to play a big role this season for the Clippers, you’d have to imagine he’ll have to get much more comfortable with that aspect of his game.

But the potential is there. During his rookie season, Martin shot 37 percent shooting from 3-point range. If he can add that to the other aspects of his versatile game, Martin could have another breakout season this year in LA.
