Breakout candidate: Keegan Murray

The Sacramento Kings were the big surprise of the Western Conference last season as it seemed that everything finally came together for the young, talented team. While De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis were the primary drivers of the Kings’ success, the emergence of rookie Keegan Murray played a big part in the team’s overwhelming depth at times. Heading into his second season, Murray is certainly a player to watch as he could be in for a breakout season after getting his feet wet last year.

Murray has the potential to be a dynamic scorer in the NBA and has already proven he can be a weapon as a versatile defender. As a top 5 draft pick, Murray is only just getting started as a player. The best basketball is still very much in front of him and he’s in a great spot with the Kings.

Murray is going to be the third-best player on this team sooner rather than later, and this could be the season where we already begin to see that come to fruition. If the Kings are going to be better than last season, they’re going to need Murray to take a step forward in his progression.
