D’Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers

I firmly believe that there’s going to come a point this season when the Los Angeles Lakers seriously think about trading D’Angelo Russell. It likely all depends on how Gabe Vincent looks during the early part of the season and whether the Lakers are willing to hand over the point guard reins completely to him. If it does happen fairly early, the Lakers could explore trading Russell at some point before the NBA Trade Deadline. While he may not be an ideal fit next to Tyrese Maxey, mostly due to his shortcomings on the defensive end of the floor, he’d be an interesting offensive fit next to Joel Embiid.

And there may not be many better offensive options for the Sixers. For all the flack that Russell gets as a player, he’s still an offensively talented guard who can fill up the stat sheet on one end of the floor. And depending on how desperate the Sixers are, Russell could emerge as a potential fit for the team.

Russell may be a bit past his prime at this point in his career, but he’s still just 27 years old and could find a second breath to his career in Philadelphia if given the opportunity for another change of scenery.
