3. Phoenix Suns
Even after acquiring Kevin Durant at the NBA Trade Deadline, the Phoenix Suns didn’t sit on their hands this offseason. Losing to the Denver Nuggets, the eventual NBA Champions, in the Western Conference semifinals, the Suns’ front office went back to the drawing board during the summer. They completely revamped the supporting cast around Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. They started with the addition of Bradley Beal and punctuated the offseason by acquiring Jusuf Nurkic from the Portland Trail Blazers.
With arguably the best big 3 in the NBA, the Suns will be entering the offseason with some lofty expectations. If the Suns don’t at least make the NBA Finals, this season will be remembered as a disappointing year. The Suns are at the point where it’s championship or bust until KD is no longer on the roster.
And it’s not without merit. Phoenix is going to be one of the favorites to win the title and if they can remain healthy, I’m not really sure what team is going to have the offensive firepower to go toe-to-toe with this starting 5.
